Emergency Rescue Units deployed to assist partner shelter in wake of Hurricane Harvey arrive back from Houston with 57 shelter animals to make room for all of the displaced dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens separated from their families.
Last month 52 brave dogs and puppies, rescued from the deplorable conditions of a puppy mill, arrived at our Port Washington, N.Y. campus. Thanks to a collaborative rescue effort with National Mill Dog Rescue, a Colorado based non-profit organization that has rescued 12,000 animals from commercial breeding facilities since its inception in 2007, these deserving animals are now safe and sound in the care of the nurturing staff here at Animal League America.
Monday, May 22nd may have been just another day for many, but for the 16 dogs transported to North Shore Animal League America after being rescued from suffering a cruel demise at the Yulin Dog Meat Trade Festival in China, it was a momentous occasion.
In collaboration with National Mill Dog Rescue we were able to free these animals from lives of overbreeding and inhumanity and provide a better tomorrow.

We were contacted by one our shelter partners in Puerto Rico regarding eight dogs who were in desperate need of our help. The group of dogs were living in the home of their loving foster mother, Doña Santa. The canine family was enjoying a happy, healthy life before their foster mother suddenly became gravely ill.
