At a staff celebration in honor of our seventh year of American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation, Animal League America’s Senior Vice President & Chief of Veterinary Staff Dr. Mark Verdino emphasized that this recognition validates our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of medical care to all our patients. North Shore Animal League America’s Pet Health Centers, comprised of the Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Veterinary Medical Center, Don and Karen LaRocca Pet Wellness Center, and the Freed Special Recovery Center, hold a distinction shared by fewer than 15% of animal hospitals in the U.S.
“The process is rigorous,” noted Dr. Verdino, “and requires site visits that evaluate us against nearly a thousand individual standards.” These standards encompass all aspects of veterinary medicine — from pain management and patient care to team training and medical recordkeeping — and are continuously updated to keep accredited practices at the forefront of the profession. “Every time we go through the process,” said Dr. Verdino, “we don’t just squeak by, but we pass with flying colors.” It’s yet another testament to the exceptional veterinary care we provide, and how we lead the field with our excellence each and every day.
