Animal League America Cuts the Ribbon in Celebration of the Opening of the Don and Karen LaRocca Pet Wellness Center
On Wednesday, April 11, North Shore Animal League America held a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of the opening of the highly anticipated Don and Karen LaRocca Pet Wellness Center! This state-of-the-art facility, made possible by the overwhelming generosity of the LaRocca Family, marks another advancement towards creating a better world for all companion animals.
“Together, Karen and Don made such a difference in the lives of the animals waiting for adoption on our campus. As individuals and as a couple, The LaRocca’s were profoundly committed to saving and enhancing the lives of homeless animals,” said J. John Stevenson, President of Animal League America. “And they believed deeply in our no-kill vision for the future. We are all here today, gathered in front of this beautiful, new building, because of their generosity and compassion.”
Our new Pet Wellness Center will allow Animal League America to continue to provide high-quality, affordable medical care to pets in our community and beyond. Located just steps from our Pet Adoption Center, this brand new resource will enable us to create a healthier population of pets and a more informed community of pet owners, both of which support our no-kill mission.
“With its emphasis on preventative medicine, the Don and Karen LaRocca Pet Wellness Center will help us create a healthier population of pets and a better educated community of pet owners, which, in turn, will advance our no-kill mission and support our commitment to various medical and public health issues,” said Dr. Mark Verdino, Animal League America Senior Vice President and Chief of Veterinary Staff. “My medical staff and I are excited about the expansion of medical care that this facility represents. We’re grateful the grand opening has arrived, and on behalf of the wonderful animals we treat every day, we extend our deepest thanks to the LaRocca’s for supporting the futures of so many pets in need.”
